When you bring a kitten home, you welcome a new member of the family. A growing, learning kitten has specific nutritional requirements. Readon and find out. Here are the three stages your kitten progresses throughwhen changing from milk to solid food.
Zero to four weeks old
From birth to around six weeks, kittens are best fed on their mother's milk. As with human babies, these first feeds ensure kittens get all the maternal antibodies that help them fight illnesses and infections.

From four to six weeks
After four to six weeks, your kitten will progress from mother's milk onto solid food through a transition called 'weaning'. Here are some top tips to help you wean:

Mix your kitten's food with tepid water to make a gruel that can then besmeared around the mouth. The kitten's natural reaction is to lick it off, which starts weaning. Warm the food to body temperature so it gives off an aroma. For kittens, warm food is reminiscent of the warmth of mother's milk Wean your kitten at first onto food that's mashed into gruel or verysmall chunks, which are easy for your kitten to grasp Soak dry food in boiling water until soft. While it soaks, let it cool to body temperature. Then pop it into your kitten's mouth by hand

From six weeks to 12 months
After the weaning period, and until 12 months, your kitten's growth ismuch faster than at any other stage and requires highly nutritious, energy-rich foods. For this next stage
